I Carbon Capture Utilisation & Storage

Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) is a technology designed to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from industrial processes and power generation. It involves capturing CO2 at its source, transporting it, and storing it underground in geological formations.  CCUS is crucial for mitigating climate change and achieving net-zero emissions targets.

Crondall Energy leads in CCUS technology with a proven track record. We excel in concept and parallel engineering, managing complex system designs and interface points. Our extensive knowledge spans emitter capture to subsurface engineering, ensuring seamless project execution and significant carbon reduction.

At Crondall Energy, we’ve built a substantial track record in this field, collaborating with industry leaders such as DESNZ (UK Government), Marathon, BP and Sval Energi.  We can demonstrate extensive knowledge of CCS system designs across the full chain.

I CCUS Highlights

CCUS Technical Advisor: Crondall Energy has been reappointed by the UK Government to advise on CCUS.  Initially appointed in 2020, we continue our role with an expanded team to support the Government’s net-zero by 2050 plans.

Our extensive experience and multidisciplinary skills have been pivotal in delivering comprehensive services such as flow assurance, system operability reviews, technical assessments, and regulatory engagement.  This project showcases our ability to manage complex CCUS systems and interface points, demonstrating our capability to apply these skills to diverse projects for various clients.

Pipeline Transportation: Crondall Energy excels in CO2 pipeline transportation, offering expertise from emitter to wellhead. We specialise in technical specification and design for onshore and offshore pipelines, addressing controls architecture, chemical and water wash distribution, and corrosion issues.  Our flow assurance expertise includes fluid behaviour, pipeline sizing, operability, and managing insulation and temperature impacts.

Marine Transport: Crondall Energy provides comprehensive support for marine bulk transportation of CO2 , assisting both sequestration operators and vessel owners.  We specialise in vessel design and offloading facilities, offering technical solutions and operations reviews for CO2  offloading. We provide CAPEX and OPEX estimates, conduct risk assessments, and act as owners’ representatives during the build process.

Marine Capture: Crondall Energy is supporting the development of marine capture technologies.  We excel in concept engineering, Levelised Cost of Carbon Abatement (LCCA) and CAPEX & OPEX (TOTEX) analysis. Acting as an owner’s engineer, we perform feasibility studies, concept screening and selection, and pre-FEED & FEED studies.

Lenders Technical Advice: Crondall Energy specialises in providing lenders technical assurance across various domains, including gas compression, pipeline engineering, floating offshore installations, and subsea interfaces.  Our expertise extends to project management, project engineering, and financial analysis.  With our extensive experience, Crondall Energy is ideally positioned to support clients and stakeholders venturing into new CCUS projects.
