Forbes is a principal consultant, with 28 years experience in the energy industry, specialising in field development and subsea pipeline engineering.
Forbes’ particular areas of expertise include development engineering, subsea tie-backs, deepwater and HPHT flowlines, and decommissioning. Forbes also has experience in development project economics and project sanction processes. Forbes’ development engineering expertise has been strengthened by a long term secondment to a major operator where he has provided development engineering support to three separate operating assets; one conventional offshore, one HPHT offshore and a deepwater subsea field.
Forbes’ development engineering experience spans from running prospect level studies to support exploration well decisions, leading conceptual engineering studies through to FEED, providing operational support to assets, life extension project planning and decommissioning planning. Forbes has been responsible for the development of CAPEX, OPEX and ABEX, project schedules, economics and for the preparation and presentation of technical and sanction dossiers to senior management for all levels of study. A key part of Forbes’ development engineering roles involves liaising with main project stakeholders (drilling & wells, subsurface, operations, commercial, economics) and ensuring good communications, reviews and feedback with external stakeholders.
Forbes’ pipeline engineering expertise stems from involvement in projects from across the globe having been involved in some of the most challenging developments in West Africa, Gulf of Mexico and Offshore Australia.
Forbes has authored a number of technical papers on flowline thermal design and operational monitoring.
